Calyx RTSM
2021 - 2024
Project Background
Randomization and Trial Supply Management systems (RTSM) are used across clinical trials to randomly assign participants and ensure that enough drug supply gets sent to the correct location.
Clinical trials are extremely complex and contain many different user roles and unique challenges. Users of the system work in a very fast paced environment, and therefore it is important to design a clean, usable interface that displays real-time key metrics.
Project Goals
- Design a new Randomisation and Trial Supply Management (RTSM) system that can be used by different user groups
- Allow different user groups to login and view high-level metrics
- Create a seamless workflow using reusable UI components while catering for different user needs
- Allow users to access site and participant reports
- Allow users to view and respond to notifications
Approach
- Participated in user research interviews to obtain day-to-day tasks, key needs and pain points
- Organised research findings to assist in user persona creation
- Designed user flows and UI components based on user feedback
- Created reusable study and site metrics dashboard with the ability to drill down for more information
- Designed login flows
- Designed a notification system
- Liaised with development teams to assess technical feasibility of proposed designs
- Created a reusable UI component in Figma to assist with maintaining consistency across different user groups
- Took an iterative design approach and listened to stakeholder feedback
- Hosted demo sessions for key stakeholders, development teams, and BAs to discuss design decisions
